Project Description

The whole ICT industry in Kosovo (including telecommunications sector), generally constitutes a vibrant sector of the economy in its own right, providing a major source of employment, contributing a significant share of the Gross Domestic Product (in the last 10 years 8% -11% of the Kosovo GDP), and is serving as a catalyst for the creation of a highly skilled 'knowledge economy' workforce.

Broadband infrastructure connectivity of schools with an adequate level of service will enable ICT in education which is one of the priorities of the Government of Kosovo. Requested grant for Feasibility Study should assess and evaluate the best possible options for connecting the primary and secondary schools in all territory of Kosovo/all municipalities, which will enable the promotion of a quality change through extending and enhancing a modern telecommunication infrastructure (National NREN).

National NREN would be able to provide Software for the School Information Systems (to provide information such as online class attendance, test results, reporting for parents, etc). The Classroom Management System (CMS) will enable teachers to simultaneously supervise the activities of each student, interact with the students or assess their knowledge through the communication and collaboration elements of the system. Evaluation of Digital maturity (readiness) level of primary and secondary schools is necessary. Digitally mature schools and the appropriate use of ICT will aid in more efficient and transparent management of the schools but more importantly, develop digital competencies and prepare teachers for more innovative approaches in their work with students.
