Albania, Digital Infrastructure Improvement in the Pre-University System: Pre-feasibility Study

Albania, Digital Infrastructure Improvement in the Pre-University System: Pre-feasibility Study

Project Description

Since its establishment, RASH, the Albanian National Research and Education Network, has been committed to implementing information and communication technologies (ICT) and e-Learning infrastructure in High Education Institutions (HEI) in Albania. Nevertheless, as shown during the COVID-19 crisis, there has been an increased need for ICT infrastructure and distance learning solutions that will enable students, teachers and school staff to access a wide range of tools, services and digital resources for effective teaching, learning and school administration.

The proposed intervention focused on improving the ICT infrastructure in a pre-university school system in Albania seeks to address the needs of students and teachers for new learning technologies based on high-speed connectivity. The investment will design a new model of distant learning and make it functional through digital infrastructure improvements, including servers, cloud datacentre, and network infrastructure.

Technical assistance, provided through WBIF, aims to prepare a Pre-feasibility Study that will include an examination of the network infrastructure and internet access in pre-university facilities, exploration of options for building the Educational Network Backbone, and preparation of a digital platform with the video lessons, tutorials, didactic materials, digital books, and other materials for online learning.
