Bosnia and Herzegovina has enormous economic potential. The WBIF helps unlock that potential. Investments in modern transport infrastructure, green energy, digital transformation and social development support BIH to modernize its economy and enhance the quality of life for its citizens. The WBIF also helps to improve connectivity and the region’s economic integration with the European Union, providing concrete and tangible support for the overall objective of progress towards a future in the EU

WBIF investments 2009-2026

The Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF) is a financial platform that coordinates investments for socio-economic development in the region in key sectors of sustainable transport, clean energy, digital future, environment and climate and human capital development. Since its official launch in 2009, the WBIF has been addressing the region’s investment needs and supporting the Western Balkan partners in their EU accession process.

Due to its collaborative nature and approach, the WBIF is the main financial vehicle for implementing the EU’s ambitious policy priorities and investments in the region. The WBIF finances public sector infrastructure investments and employs a mix of financial instruments to increase the availability of affordable and diversified financing for small businesses.
