One more step in completing Corridor Vc
A public event on 2 September 2026 marked the completion of the Doboj Jug – Medakovo sub-section of Corridor Vc, an important step toward finishing this strategic European link.
The new seven kilometres of road enables better connectivity for the Doboj Jug, Usora, and Tešanj areas with the motorway network and opens up new opportunities for the region's development. As part of the construction, five bridges, two interchanges, a tunnel and toll booths were built.
The event was attended by members of the JP Autoceste FBiH Management Board, led by Director Denis Lasić, representatives of European partners involved in the Corridor Vc construction project, and representatives of local communities.
Antonella Di Sandri, Head of the Section for Economic Development, Green Transition, and Investments, attended the event on behalf of the European Union Delegation to BiH.
"I am pleased that a new seven-kilometre section of Corridor Vc is opening. Every new kilometre means better connectivity for our cities, people, and economy, as well as safer traffic and shorter travel times. Corridor Vc is one of the most important infrastructure projects in our country, and every completed part brings us closer to the goal of Bosnia and Herzegovina being better connected within the country, but also with Europe," said Nermin Nikšić, Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The construction, with a total value of €159 million, was financed by EU grants of €15.9 million through the Western Balkans Investment Framework, and a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
"The Corridor Vc highway is part of the trans-European transport network (TEN-T), and each completed section enables citizens and businesses to travel safer and faster and better connect with the EU. The European Union remains a reliable and consistent partner of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The completion of the Doboj Jug – Medakovo sub-section brings us one step closer to the completion of this key road. However, as we mark today's important step forward, we call on the authorities to take advantage of all the opportunities for investment that the EU also provides, primarily, almost one billion euros available through the Growth Plan," said Luigi Soreca, EU special representative and head of the EU Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Corridor Vc is a strategic part of the Western Balkans-Eastern Mediterranean European Transport corridor. It connects Bosnia and Herzegovina to Hungary, Croatia and the Adriatic Sea. The longest section of the corridor lies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which has embarked on a multi-billion motorway construction programme.
