Orient/East Med Corridor: Belgrade – Mladenovac – Niš X Railway Line, Stalać – Đunis Section in Serbia

Project Description

Rail Corridor X, running between Salzburg in Austria and Thessaloniki in Greece, is one of the major pan-European transport networks. It accounts for 872 km of track in Serbia, making up approximately 23% of the entire railway network, and connects the country with Croatia, Hungary, Bulgaria and North Macedonia (and further south with Greece).

This investment project concerns the construction of a 17.7 km long double-track section from Stalać to Đunis on the line between Belgrade and Niš. With a robust railway network, Serbia will boost its potential for increasing transit revenues and becoming a more competitive investment destination, alongside reducing pollution.

The EU has provided technical assistance for project preparation and co-funds the investments under Flagship 1 - Connecting East to West - of the Economic and Investment Plan for the Western Balkans through the WBIF.
