Health Provider Institutions (HPIs)

Project Description

WBIF has supported the comprehensive, three-phase reform of the healthcare sector in North Macedonia which covers 90% of the health sector building stock made up of hospitals, clinics and specialised institutes.

WBIF TA grant has financed the preparation of Phase II through two stages. During the first stage of technical assistance, a Survey of the Health Provider Institutions (HPIs) Phase II covering 50 HPIs was conducted, thus providing the Ministry of Health (MoH) with estimates of the necessary healthcare infrastructure investments on all healthcare levels in the country.

The second stage of TA provided support to the project implementation unit (PIU) in a number of areas: selection of the most suitable and most favourable architectural concept solution; provision of mid-term and final reviews of the designs for construction of the New Clinical Block, and renovation and rehabilitation or readjustment of the surgery clinic’s building within the UCC Mother Teresa in Skopje; provision of continuous advisory and review activities during all design phases of Stip Clinical Hospital; active guidance and consultation with selected designer contracted by the MoH; and detailed assessment of the biomedical equipment which provided input to the finalisation of the feasibility study.
