Durres Port, Reconstruction of Quays 1 & 2: Pre-feasibility Study, Feasibility Study, ESIA, Review and Update of Detailed Design and Tender Documentation

Project Description

Port of Durres is the largest port in Albania with an operational infrastructure consisting of 11 berths with depths ranging from 7.5 to 11.5 meters. Positioned at the entrance of the Adriatic Sea, the Port has a key location for transit networks and passenger ferries, thus giving Durres a strategic position with respect to Corridor VIII and being the main gateway to Albania.

Quays 1 and 2 are part of the Western Terminal which handles all general cargo including fertilizers, grains, pallets, etc. Since their construction, these quays have not been maintained under the slabs and beams, so the degree of corrosion of the steel bar is very high.

Aiming to support the intention to reconstruct Quays 1 & 2 of Durres Port, WBIF approved the technical assistance grant in 2017 for the preparation of a Pre-feasibility Study, Feasibility Study, ESIA, Review and Update of Detailed Design, and Tender Documentation.
