Project Description

In accordance with identified needs for improving the capacity of university education in Serbia, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development (MoESTD) has received numerous initiatives, including one for the construction of new capacities and reconstruction of five technical faculties of Belgrade University.

The Faculty of Electric Engineering (ETF) suffers from severe insufficiency of space and the lessons and exams are organised in two or more shifts and even in late evening hours (until 22:00) and during weekends. This faculty alone lacks approx. 15,000 m2 net area of classrooms and laboratories.

Apart from the lack of space, the existing buildings dating from 1932 to 1955 need rehabilitation to reach contemporary standards of security, accessibility, energy efficiency, and other environmental standards to lower operational costs, primarily energy consumption. Given that five faculties are situated in one block of 59,000 m2, together with the Archive of Serbia and University Library, having a common yard but practically no direct connections, there is a need to provide physical connection and common spaces that would substantially integrate these institutions.

The Electric Engineering and Technical Faculties Campus in Belgrade (EETFC) investment covers the extension of ETF, including the common facilities to be used by all the five faculties of the campus, and the rehabilitation of existing buildings and equipment.

Technical assistance, provided through WBIF, supports the preparation of Detailed Design, namely Design for Building Permit (DBP), Design for Execution (DE) and tender for construction and equipment for the first investment phase.
