Orient/East-Med Corridor, Stalać – Kraljevo Route 11 Railway Section: Feasibility Study, ESIA, Preliminary Design, Tender Documents

Project Description

Stalać - Kraljevo, part of the railway line Stalać - Kraljevo - Požega, connects the central region of Serbia with Corridor X. Also, this section links Belgrade - Niš - Preševo railway line with Belgrade - Bar railway line. In this way, the shortest physical connection between the Black and Adriatic Seas has been provided.

The Stalać - Kraljevo section, long 71.6 km, can be divided into two sub-sections: Stalać - Kruševac and Kruševac - Kraljevo. This single-track railway line is not electrified, except for the Kraljevo station, and suffers from poor technical conditions due to insufficient maintenance in the past. The currently allowed operational speed is 40 km/h, which differs from the originally designed speed of 60km/h for the sub-section Stalać - Kruševac and 100 km/h for the sub-section Kruševac - Kraljevo.

WBIF has provided a technical assistance grant for the preparation of a Feasibility Study including Options Analysis and Cost-Benefit Analysis, Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) for the preferred option, Preliminary Design, and Tender documents for the reconstruction and modernisation of the railway line Stalać - Kraljevo. The technical documentation will heavily rely on the Conceptual Design and Pre-Feasibility Study for a railway line Stalać - Kraljevo - Rudnica, also prepared with WBIF's support and completed in 2020.
