Corridor Vc, Prenj Tunnel Motorway Subsection in Bosnia and Herzegovina: Technical Assistance for Project Implementation Support

Project Description

Corridor Vc is one of three branches of Motorway Corridor V, part of the Trans-European Network for Transport (TEN-T). Following E73, Vc starts in Budapest, runs via northern Croatia (Osijek), through Bosnia and Herzegovina via Doboj, Zenica, Sarajevo and Mostar, and ends in the Croatian port of Ploče. Corridor Vc has the highest priority for transport infrastructure development in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It has a total length of 320 km in the country and includes four main lots with an estimated value of €3,2 billion.

The new road section Tunnel Prenj would further extend the already constructed 112.5 km of a new motorway in the centre of Bosnia Herzegovina between Tarčin, south of the capital Sarajevo and the northern part to the city of Mostar. The Tunnel Prenj will connect several adjacent motorway sections Ovčari - Tunnel Prenj and Tunnel Prenj Exit - Mostar North which cannot function independently.

Technical assistance, provided through WBIF, will support the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) in the daily management of activities, and, in particular, procurement, contract and claims management, risk management, specific technical issues, and communication with designers, reviewers, supervising engineers, contractors, and main local stakeholders.
